For the last few months, most of the world has been on lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19, and that has meant most of us have spent more time at home. It gave me a chance to try out some samples that I had stashed away (we’re all guilty of that), and as I wasn’t able to travel I decided to use up some of my deluxe travel sizes. I found a few favorites that I’m going to share with you.
Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion
As many of us took advantage of a daily walk, I also had more time to try out body products that I usually am in a rush to use. You may have read about Ameliorate before and wondered what makes it so special, and that’s because it leaves a smooth film (non greasy) on your legs after you have applied it. Not only that, but it locks in moisture and any dry patches are sorted in a single application.
There is the original version and a non-scented one, but the original doesn’t smell as bad people make out, and it doesn’t linger. The full size is 200 ml and is priced at £22.50 and a 50 ml travel size is £9. It exfoliates and smooths the skin at the same time (and is safe for the face), and is truly a wonder product.
Caudalie Thé des Vignes Shower Gel
I’m a huge fan of Caudalie because their products are plant based, natural, gentle, effective, and are affordable on a regular basis. I signed up to their loyalty scheme which offers free products from as little as 100 points, and you get free points with your birthday and by signing up to start with. Often they do exclusive promotions, and so I decided to try a shower gel as there was free shipping plus a complimentary gift with all purchases. I have to say I fell in love with Thé des Vignes, as it smells divine and I have gone on to buy more items in the range. It’s a light floral fragrance that gives you a lift immediately, and priced at £4.50 for 100ml, and £9 for 200 ml, you can’t go wrong.
I will confess I bought this one as a gift, and decided I loved it too much and gave away the Fleur de Vignes, which has a lovely light scent, but isn’t as captivating as Thé des Vignes.
Caudalie Premier Cru The Serum
The lockdown gave me a chance to try out some serums and night creams and to see how effective they truly are, and the Caudalie Premier Cru The Serum is a delight to use. You can can use it morning and night, but I prefer to use it at night for optimal results, and it’s actually a light lotion. It doesn’t feel greasy, heavy, tacky or thick, and simply smooths onto the skin and works a bit of magic. This is top of the range and costs £90 for 30ml, and I got a 10 ml deluxe size in a coffret, and this is the ultimate in serums. It lasted me about two months using it three times a week as a preventative measure. The limited edition sets are excellent value when available, and are worth buying to try other products.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream
This night cream is a new addition to the Pro-Collagen range, and I wasn’t disappointed. I have to say I wasn’t impressed with the Overnight Matrix as it was too heavy, but this night cream is superb. It can be confusing deciding which cream to use, and the original Pro-Collagen Marine Cream can be used day and night, and the main difference is that this night cream is even smoother. Yes, it has an even softer buttery texture that oozes into the skin once you apply it. It’s pure bliss and luxury for the skin, and you see results the next morning.
When people say use a small amount because it goes a long way, that’s just what this does. I found myself reaching for this tube most nights, and each time it delivered excellent results, plus my skin felt regenerated each time.
