Clarins Re-Charge Relaxing Sleep Mask ~ Review

If you’ve never tried a sleep mask, or have been put off because some feel a bit too heavy, then you will love this product. I tried it as soon as it came out earlier this year and fell in love with it. The new my Clarins range has been geared towards those in their early twenties, but I’ve never been one to determine products according to age, and feel this is ideal for all skin types and ages.

The re-charge relaxing sleep mask comes in a 50ml jar priced at £24, and contains acerola seed, fig and huang qi extracts, and alpenrose to detox and hydrate, plus organic coconut water. From time to time you may find deluxe travel sizes available as I did, which are ideal for those who want to try it out first.

Rating and verdict

The cream/gel mask is so simple and easy to use; simply apply after your serum or booster if you use one, or toner or softening lotion if you don’t. Smooth it on all over the face without rubbing it in, including the neck and leave overnight.

The texture is light, and the scent is wonderfully fresh and relaxing (the whole range smells wonderful), and overnight the cream will absorb into the skin. It’s non-greasy and when you wake up your skin feels softer and hydrated.

To get the best out of the mask, exfoliate after cleansing, and then apply toner, and serum before using the mask (and eye cream). This will ensure your skin will get the maximum benefits from the product. You don’t need to use a moisturizer when you use this mask at night.

Ideally, you should use it twice a week, but if your skin is really dehydrated then use it every other night. Overnight sleep masks are an ideal way to boost hydration levels in the skin, and are quick and easy to use if you don’t have time for sheet masks or to wait in the bath for a mask to work. These are great to use when you feel too tired to use a mask when you skip steps in your beauty routine, and perfect for winter when the skin feels dry and dehydrated. It also saves on moisturisers and night creams because you use the mask instead.

I prefer using sleep masks to sheet masks which I find a little messy at times and restrictive. Once you’ve tried this, it will be hard to use other masks again!
