This month You Beauty Box a.k.a. The Jet Set Edit rolls out a selection of subscriptions with the regular subscription of Bronze (£6.95 for 2 items), Silver (£8.95 for 3 items), and Gold (£10.95 for 4 items). The Alpha-H Liquid serum sold out within hours, perhaps because people could upgrade and choose more items, however, the choices this month were varied and some have sold out at the time of writing:
Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel ~ 15ml
Illamasqua Precision Ink Liner in Abyss ~ Full size
White Rabbit Skincare Lime & Coconut Cleansing Water ~ 30ml
Aethic L’Air Bien Tubes in-flight Face and Hand Cream ~ Full size, 30ml
Carmex Peach & Mango Burst ~ Full size, 10g
Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection SPF 15 ~ Full size, 200ml
M&S Rosie for Autograph Nuit Parfum ~ 15ml
Philip Kingsley Swim Cap ~ 50ml
Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish By Rita Ora in Glaston-Berry ~ 8ml
Alpha-H Liquid Gold ~ 50ml
NUXE Huile Prodigieus ~ 10ml
Rodial STEMCELL Super-Food Glam Balm Multi ~ 25ml
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum ~ 7ml
Bloom & Blossom Bath and Shower Gel ~ 50ml
INIKA Organic Eyeliner in Black Caviar
There is no mention of the bonus products as per usual—perhaps they will vary according to the membership level chosen? The problem with people selecting more items from a limited list means that the best items will go very quickly and that can put people off subscribing. The Alpha-H Liquid Gold, Aethic L’Air Bien Tubes in-flight Face and Hand Cream, and Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel sold out in the first few days—whether stocks will be replenished is uncertain.
I chose the gold membership this month to see if there is any real difference, and here is what was in my box:
Rodial STEMCELL Super-Food Glam Balm Multi ~ special size 25ml @£11.00.
One of my favorite products that can be used in so many ways, and having a spare tube is always useful.
Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel ~ special size 15ml @£14.10.
An excellent facial product that has a delicate scent, and feels light and smooth on the skin. It absorbs easily and a small amount goes a long way.
Illamasqua Precision Ink Liner in Abyss ~ Full size @£20.50.
Waterproof and easy to use for a dramatic look that won’t smudge.
Aethic L’Air Bien Tubes in-flight Face and Hand Cream ~ Full size 30ml @£24.00.
A multi-purpose product from a company with new eco-friendly philosophy.
* Bonus products;
Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier body lotion ~ 50ml @£3.25
St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower ~ 50ml @£3.60
Total perceived value £76.45
The box took a little longer to arrive than usual, but did arrive within a week or ordering. An email to confirm despatch came however after the box arrived. In addition there are some vouchers and codes to use for subscribers including a £2 voucher to use in Boots for St Tropez Gradual Tan, £10 off at White Rabbit Skincare £10 off at Resultime, and 35% off sunscreen at Aethic with the code you&aethic16 until 1 September.
As I was signing up for the Gold membership, one of the items I wanted had already gone out of stock and I couldn’t go back and change it to Silver, so I was forced to choose a fourth item for the sake of things. This, I imagine is one of the issues of having a Gold membership—you have to pick very early to ensure you get all your choices as there are only eight to ten items on the shortlist. I was picking at midday on the first day the list was online. If it hadn’t been for the additional back in stock items, I would have struggled to find four items I wanted. Overall my box is good value and I will use everything except for the self-tan which was a bonus item. You Beauty Box does offer you flexibility, so if you wish to change your subscription you can do so as long as it is before the 27th of each month. A good selection if you managed to order early this month.
