REN ~ Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial Review

When I first came across the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial, I was skpetical to say the least, because the natural thing to wonder is how can you have a facial in a minute? I’ve used the Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial before which worked, although I wasn’t keen on the smell, and I’m also apprehensive about the over use of AHA products that you leave on the skin as I prefer to rinse them off. This is because the skin can become more sensitve without you feeling it or realizing it, and thus the use of SPF50 daily is a necessity if you use such products.

This product is one that you rinse off, and as the packaging says, ‘with water activated Vitamin C’ it seems simple to use. It’s suitable for all skin types except those with highly sensitive skin, and is for those who want a quick facial boost if their complexion looks sluggish or dull. I was using it as I had been testing a skin treatment that didn’t work and that made my skin look dull, and so I needed a quick boost to get my skin back to normal.

Rating and verdict

4.7/5

Using the product is easy, but you do need to use a generous amount on the face and the color (a murky seaweed green) isn’t the most attractive looking or smelling product (it has yeast extract in it) to use. Once you’ve applied the product to the face (smooth it on rather than rub it in) which has small granules, you then use water to activate the Vitamin C and massage the product into the face. The consistency then becomes much easier to manage and feels smooth on the skin. Leave it for a minute, or as I did for a couple of minutes and then rinse off thoroughly.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the skin realy did feel smoother and softer after a single application. I would say this is a good exfoliation and brightening treatment rather than a mask or a facial, and while it is recommended to be used every three days, for a healthy skin I would say once a week is more than sufficient.

This is ideal for people who do have a dull complexion or those with oily skins who find exfoliating too harsh and who don’t like using masks that dry out the skin. For other skin types this is a good treatment for a weekly exfoliation without having to use a mask.

Priced at £33 for 75ml, I would say each application is about 5-8ml and so would give between 10-15 applications. Personally, I would recommend alternating it with other masks and treatments depending on your skin concerns at the time. This treatment is probably most effective during the winter months and spring time where the skin needs brightening and a quick boost, but doesn’t replace the use of face masks completely.
