Latest in Beauty ~ Build Your Own Beauty Box Review

Latest in Beauty offers curated beauty boxes (Glamour Beauty Box Edits among them), but also build your own (BYOB), which is ideal for those people that don’t like to be tied down to a subscription, who prefer to choose their products (rather than get a surprise or disappointment), and also order them whenever they want. The items available can vary—some sell out, and others go out of stock, so what you see one minute isn’t always guaranteed. First of all you have to choose how many items you want in the box before you are directed to the selection pages.

  • 3 items cost £8.99
  • 6 items cost £12.99
  • 9 items cost £16.99

*Shipping costs £3.95 for each box.

When I first tested this site a several months ago it, was a little slow (maybe the server was down?) and the choices were limited with quite a few out of stock items. Generally there are a selection of sample sizes, special sizes, and a few full sized products to choose from, and recently there have been some excellent choices available. Where I had previously struggled to find three items I wanted, I now found more than nine, and I am tempted to order another box.

Once you have selected all of your items, you then add the box to your cart before you can checkout. The site does give you the opportunity to remove items if you change your mind, and to replace them even if they are in your cart as long as you haven’t started the payment process. You can even start a box and then go back and finish filling it up later. The only time consuming thing I found was reading the description of the item, and then hitting the back button to go back to the selection list.

The selection of products offers some well-known brands, as well as some newer niche brands, and is divided into body, fragrances, hair care, makeup, nail care, miscellaneous, and skincare categories.  Among some of the offerings are items from:

Prompt emails were sent to confirm the order when it was placed, and also upon despatch. The delivery was very fast, and my box arrived within three days via a courier. Once you have ordered you may get follow up emails with further discount codes to tempt you into buying another box. I didn’t encounter any issues with the ordering process or delivery, and the items I ordered were as described, well packaged, and are genuine products.

My 9 item box (£16.99) contained:

Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream (£9.99)

Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse Anti Fatigue Moisturising Cream (sample worth £6)

Dr Organic Hemp Oil Intensive Eye Serum (£8.99)

Urban Veda Soothing Hydrating Toner (£13.99)

Rodial Stem Cell Super-Food Cleanser (sample worth £14)

Rodial Stem Cell Super-Food Glam Balm Multi (sample worth £11)

The Organic Pharmacy Marigold & Comfrey Hand and Nail Cream (£21.95)

Espa Optimal Skin ProSerum (sample worth £12.80)

Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil (sample worth £15)

Rating 4.5/5

The box offers excellent value for money, although the shipping can seem a little steep if you are only ordering a three product box. I took off half a point because the selection of items can be sparse at times, and isn’t consistent. I’ve been testing the site for six months, and this was the first time I had found enough products I genuinely wanted that were available in one go. Recommended for the quality of service, delivery, and choice of products.
