September sees the sixth anniversary of Birchbox in the UK, and they brought back the popular and much loved drawer box. I admit I had cancelled my subscription, but the drawer box with the enticement of a full sized ModelCo product (Highlighting Trio worth £17 or a Crème Rouge worth £14) in each box persuaded me to give Birchbox another try.
I procrastinated, and it paid off, as there was a giveaway and an offer to get the August Scuba bag free with the September box. My two for one boxes arrived within four days, and this is the best box so far where I genuinely will use all the products. Here is my selection:
NUXE ~ Prodigieux® Shower Oil/ 30 ml @ £1.50 approximately
BATISTE ~ Stylist Oomph My Locks XXL Volume Spray/ 50 ml @ £1.07
THIS WORKS ~ in transit camera close up/20 ml @ £15
MODELCO® ~ Highlighting Trio/ Full size @ £17
PURISKIN ~ Nurse Aid Cream/15 ml @ £3.90
Perceived value of box £38.47
The main thing is that all items are ones that I can use. However, Birchbox has come under fire with some of their promotion codes. Some were limited, and when the bonus boxes ran out, they withdrew the offer. The error was not stating the magical words ‘while stocks last’ which they have done now, and also giving current subscribers offers they could not use. The Facebook page was full of unhappy emojis
I had cancelled my subscription for August, so to receive it as a free gift made me feel much better that I hadn’t paid for it. The bag, whilst useful wasn’t that trendy, and the contents if I had paid for them would have left me very disappointed, and most things will be regifted:
Balance Me ~ Radiance Mask /15 ml; Philip Kingsley ~ One more day dry shampoo / 50 ml; Anatomicals ~ Coconut +Mango body lotion / 50 ml; Merci Candy ~ Hand cleansing gel /30 ml; Marcelle Mulberry Eyeliner.
Rating 4.5/5. This months box contains high quality items that are generously sized, and that are useful for everyone. The drawer box and fast delivery gained extra points this month. Sign up for the box now, and you could receive a bonus box if the offer is still available, or there maybe another gift on offer if stocks run out. Hopefully Birchbox will maintain this high standard.
