Amphora Aromatics is a skincare company that uses essential oils in its formulas, and have several interesting combinations in addition to the Frankincense & Rose line, including: Neroli & Aloe, Almond & Sandalwood, Bergamot & Chamomile, Lavender & Tree Tree, Jasmin, Mimosa, & Rosehip, and Vanilla & Honey. The products are also competitively priced with 50 ml moisturisers priced at under £10.
The packaging of the ranges is simple and basic, and I’m not a pink person (not since my teens), but a lack of fancy packaging has never discouraged me from trying a product, as it’s the quality that matters. I have tried many face creams, and used to sell the most expensive face cream during my beauty counter days, and know when I find a good product. What attracted me were the main ingredients; Frankincense and Rose and the fact it contains no less than 20 natural ingredients including Lavender Oil, Argan Oil and Comfrey. The formula has recently been adapted to include more hydrating ingredients, and ones with antioxidant properties, and is suitable for all skin types.
As soon as you apply the light cream you can feel it creates a smooth hydrating barrier, but importantly it doesn’t leave a greasy film. I don’t like heavily scented products, and this one has a perfect balance of a slight rose fragrance, which has a calming effect. In addition the cream is suitable for vegetarians (it contains beeswax so isn’t vegan), and among the active ingredients are: Frankincense, Rose Oil, Geranium Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Myrrh Oil, and Ginseng Extract. On my first application my skin felt soft, and stayed hydrated throughout the day.
At £7.98 for a 50 ml pump dispenser, this offers excellent value, and has encouraged me to look at other products that they offer. The products are available through selected pharmacies and clinic or by mail order only at present, and postage is free on all orders over £25.
Rating 4.25/5: If you are looking for a hardworking face cream that doesn’t leave a heavy film, contains natural ingredients, and gives you change from a tenner, then this is worth trying. People are convinced that a cheap product can’t be good, but the company saves money on marketing and sells through selected outlets which keeps the price affordable to all. It also comes in a handy pump dispenser which is more hygienic, great for traveling, and also measures out the correct amount to use. A small amount goes a long way, and the cream is instantly absorbed. Tried, tested, and recommended for all ages and skin types.
